Sporotrichosis

General: Chronic fungal infection caused by Sporothrix schenckii; lesion usually occurs on exposed skin and is characterized by nodules or pustules that may develop into small ulcers; infectious agent usually gains entrance into the skin by traumatic imtation of soil or t materials; disseminated sporotrichosis is uncommon, usually occurring in alcoholics or immunosuppressed patients.

Ocular: Conjunctivitis; keratitis; corneal ulcer; blepharitis; endophthalmitis; iris atrophy; dacryocystitis; osteitis; periosteitis; scleritis; erosion of bony walls of the orbit.

Clinical: Enlargement of regional lymph nodes; pulmonary lesions; granulomas in the joints and genitourinary system.
